Though he excelled academically, Jon enlisted in the military early, eager to escape the boredom of high school. While his classmates were finishing their senior year, he was stationed in Turkey, breaking top-secret codes. Those experiences became the inspiration for his writing—stories he began crafting during his service and continues to develop today.
